Tessellation

Today we did tessellation. First we had to draw the shape or drawing. Some of us traced it of the computer screen. Then we placed it on a paper and drew around it on another. We then stuck it on a different paper but before that we cut the shapes. It was fun making it.

The shark on the beach

` `Carolee

Walt: 1. Write a narrative
2. write in sequence

On the 1st of February 1998 Arihi, Kaz, Tupou and I went for a trip to Kawakawa bay. It was very far from Auckland where us girls lived. Also we couldn't drive cause we are too young. so we asked Kaz’s mum and dad if they could take us it was a yes.

Of we went. Arrived there it took about two hours. We went and camped at the beach there. We went swimming there was other people there too. About 10 to 15 minutes later I saw somthing. At first I thought I was just seeing things. I asked Arihi if she could see it. She said yes. We then noticed it was gone.

“ Tupou watch our run run hurry up run” said Arihi.

I looked and behind Tupou was this big shark it was as big as an giant.

He had huge sharp teeth. Ready to gulp Tupou up. Everyone was screaming.  We all ran straight out. The shark was just staring at us all. No one knew what to do. We were all scared. Tupou was freaking out the most.

We took a picture of it and left. We came back later but the shark had gone. To this day now no one will ever go back there. It was on the news and everything. Apparently its a beach for sharks  on beaches you should always watch out for sharks. It doesn't even need to be a shark. Killer whales, Whales, Even dolphins can attack you. You never know what could happen to you on an beach.

I was sure i heard the sound of ...

WALT: write a narrative

I was sure I heard the sound of ...

I was sure I heard the sound of a dog crying outside our front door. Suddenly me and my brother heard a window smash.

My dad said “ stay here ill have a look “. We all waited there for my dad to come out of my brothers room. “ Its a dog “ he said. “ how did it get here ? “ we were asking . No one knew. It was so unlikely and unexpected for this to happen.

The dog was probably 5 years old in human years that pretty old for a dog. He looked like a labrador. It was really sad to see that there was broken glass all over the dog. We tried getting it out but we didn't want to hurt him so we didn't touch him. He was crying and crying. Loud and louder.
After about 5 minutes we called the spca. we reported the missing dog and told them about the window and how he got in. The spca was here about 10 minutes later. “ finally” I said . The spca came inside and took the dog. The spca were very kind they gave us money to replace the broken window even though they didn't have to. In the end the dog ended up getting adopted because nobody turned up to get him. He stays with happy owners and they just live down the road.

The theme in this story is to keep your dogs/pets safe and on your own property.

Marae Visit

Today we went to the marae to represent our school Glen Innes School. It was fun. At the end we took this photo. 3 news was also there.

The dog who survived

WALT : write a narrative

One day at 3:08 pm there was a fire. The fire was in Mission bay. No one was home only a dog. The mum was gone to pick up her kids from school and the dad was at work.

The mum didn't remember to turn off the stove before she went to pick her kids up. It made the house catch on fire. The dog could smell the fire burning. The dog was upstairs in the house. The neighbors called the fire department.

The firefighters were on there way with no time to waiste. By the time they had got there the dog had jumped out the upstairs window and took off. No one saw the dog run so they put out the fire and went in the house and called the dog. “ nope no dog here” said the firefighter. “ well thanks anyway” the neighbors said. When the family got home the house was a extreme mess and the down stairs was all burnt. The neighbors ran over to tell t the family the vital news. “ wheres the dog though “ ? asked one of the kids , “ i don’t know ? “ said the neighbor.

Then came the dog running in dazzling to see that his family was home. “ mum he's here “ said the daughter. Luckily for the family they could afford to get there home fixed and the stuff replaced because it only burnt in the kitchen.

Milk In School

WALT: share our thoughts on milk in schools
                                                         Milk in schools

I think that our parents are responsible of us and providing our foods and drinks. Although the government should give us kids milk because most kids do not get a drink but then there is taps so they can drink water. I think milk should be given to us because it has protein in it. Lastly i think the government should provide milk for us.

When he was going for his try he got a gust of wind he ran faster and faster speeding through all the other players “dive for it” screamed a voice. He dived. TRY someone shouted. Pyramid Builder

Walt: write in paragraphs

Everyday I get up early because, I am a pyramid builder. Its hard to be a pyramid builder. I get up at 6am to build the pyramids. Its not as fun as people might think it is. Its really hard and tiring. I have to wear no shoes because I don't have shoes to do my work in and walk around in.

First I cut the blocks of stone to make the shape for the pyramids. To make the right shape I use a chisel, saw or hammer. The floor of the pyramid is made out of stone. The outside of the pyramids were made out of stone. The inside of the pyramids are made of clay. On the insides I did artwork of the gods . We get to drink water and get bread to eat for lunch. When I work I get really sweaty, hot and really really really tired.

The pyramids that I built were specially made for the kings that have passed away.

Mummifacation

WALT: write a information report

Mummification

Ancient Egyptians , removed the brains of
the body but not the heart. After they remove the brain,
they put salt on the dead body and dried it.
Cloth was stuffed inside the body to help the
body keep its shape, The body was then oiled.
After its oiled they wrapped lots of bandages
around the body really tight , so the body doesn't rot,
well who ever does this to the dead bodies
there is a priest supervising them. The Egyptians
believed that the priest would send the spirit to a whole
different world. The bodies were put into a wooden
case.The important people such as
Pharaohs were put into beautiful, decorated coffins.

My Island Of Paradise

Walt: write a creative story in paragraphs.

I have an island in fiji. It belongs to me but my family helps me look after the island and they work on the island doing different things too.

Every friday night there is a carnavillie on and runs from 5pm to 12am its lots of fun. This carnavillie has heaps of different rides my favorite is the roller coaster. There is a zoo but it only has a few animals my parents wake up at 7am to feed all the animals at the zoo. Me and my brother both have private jets.

We have a beach on my island and its has big surfer waves. Around the island in different areas of the island are pools little holes that have sea water you can sit in but not big enough to swim in.

In this island there's only 5 shops, 1 shoe shop, 2 clothes shops 3 lollie stores, 4 tool shops, 5 food shop and that is pretty much everything about my island.

My toy

Walt: make a toy

Last week Mrs Ramkalawan told us we had to make a simple toy. I was going to make a toy laptop. When I was thinking what mechanism was in my toy, there was no mechanism. So I decided to make a wheelbarrow and the mechanism would be a levers. I used cardboard, sticks, glue, tape, and two cds. It wasn't easy and it  wasn’t hard, it was probably just right. Room 11 had to plan their toy and then they had to make their toy.  M.r Hendricks had to judge the toys that room 11 made. There were three winners Mikayla, Britney and Matthew.
